Hong Kong Schools
The Hong Kong education system, overseen by the Hong Kong Education Bureau, is divided into three types of schools: government schools, subsidized schools and private international schools. The English Schools Foundation is subsidized by the Hong Kong government to provide an English-language education, with priority given to students who cannot speak Chinese. The schools are delineated in geographical zones and preference is given to non-Chinese speakers, students of alumni and siblings of students. Most private international schools use an English-based curriculum and tend to be separated into the British, American, Canadian and International Baccalaureate (IB) programs. The international schools are required to run one section in the English language.
Here is a list of some of the private international schools in Hong Kong. For a complete overview please refer to the Government Education services web page www.edb.gov.hk.
