EF Education First (EF) is the world leader in international education that focuses on language, academics, and cultural experiences. EF’s mission is simple: to open the world through education. For more than 50 years, EF has helped millions of people and thousands of companies to learn a new language and explore the world.
Swedish entrepreneur Bertil Hult founded EF in 1965 in his basement dormitory in Lund. In the first year, Bertil and his small team organized summer holiday trips for Swedish high school students to learn English in Brighton, England. Since then, EF has grown into one of the world’s largest privately-held education companies with more than 580 schools and offices and in over 52 countries around the world. The Hong Kong regional office opened in 1994. Currently, EF is Official Partner for Language Training Services for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games. EF also publishes the EF English Proficiency Index, a comprehensive worldwide ranking of countries’ English.
