MEET OUR NEW TRAINEES!

The Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong is very excited to introduce and warmly welcome our two new interns, Marcus Nordberg and Oliver Bergwerf, who have recently joined our team. They each bring not only valuable knowledge, but also unique experiences, skills, and perspectives that we are confident will add great value to our community and enrich our ongoing initiatives. They will be supporting us in a variety of areas, contributing with fresh insights and energy while learning more about the dynamic business environment in Hong Kong. Down below, you can read more about Marcus and Oliver, their journeys so far, and what they will be working on with us.

Marcus Nordberg

Marcus is 22 years old and was born and raised in Angered, Gothenburg. He received his scholarship through the School of Business, Economics and Law, Gothenburg University Scholarship Foundation, where he also recently graduated with a major in finance. Alongside his studies, Marcus gained practical experience in the e-commerce industry and worked closely with startups. His involvement in student organizations and NGOs also gave him the ability to work in a diverse set of business environments. During his exchange semester at ESADE in Barcelona, Marcus developed a strong interest in working internationally, a journey he now continues in Asia. He describes himself as bringing an entrepreneurial perspective to the Chamber, drawing on his background in building and driving projects forward.

At SwedCham, Marcus is eager to deepen his knowledge of project management. What excites him the most is the opportunity to be involved in the entire process, from concept development and marketing to event planning and execution. His goal is to strengthen his organizational skills while delivering tangible results for the Chamber. One of his most positive discoveries in Hong Kong so far has been the city’s unique balance between urban life and nature. As Marcus puts it:

“On one hand, you have the vibrant, dynamic urban environment; on the other, you’re just minutes away from stunning hikes and wildlife. That balance is something I find truly special about Hong Kong.”

Oliver Bergwerf

Joining Marcus is Oliver Bergwerf from Trollhättan, Oliver received his scholarship through the Gull & Stellan Ljungbergs Stiftelse. With over five years of experience working in member organizations and nonprofits, Oliver brings a strong understanding of community-driven growth and stakeholder engagement. This background, combined with his ongoing studies in business and economics, makes him a natural fit for SwedCham’s mission of supporting Swedish companies in Hong Kong and East Asia.

Oliver is particularly passionate about initiatives that create a positive impact on business. He looks forward to learning more about Swedish trade with East Asia and how the Chamber actively shapes and supports this development. His aspiration is to gain insights that will allow him to help more Swedish companies recognize Hong Kong’s potential as a strategic hub for future growth.

When reflecting on his first impressions of the city, Oliver highlights three things in particular: the stunning natural beauty surrounding the urban center, the efficiency and affordability of Hong Kong’s public transport, and the friendliness of the people. As he says:

“It’s such a cool place to be—you can go hiking on the weekends, get anywhere easily with the amazing transportation system, and the food and hospitality here are just fantastic!”
