Breaking News: GA steps down in July!
The Swedish Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong (SwedCham) and Gabriella Augustsson are today announcing that Gabriella will step down from the position of General Manager effective July 31, 2025. Gabriella will, upon leaving SwedCham resume her employment at the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs (from which she has been on leave while serving as SwedCham GM).
“Gabriella has during the past three and a half years provided SwedCham with visionary leadership. Her new ideas and can-do attitude have helped us navigate a challenging macro climate. With Gabriella’s diplomatic skill set, our outreach and advocacy work has been stronger than ever. Under Gabriella’s leadership, SwedCham has continued to make its mark in the community, introducing many new formats, including regular company visits and yearly career fairs, a partner and sponsor scheme, exclusive interest groups events, closer corporation with local NGOs and not to be forgotten, an epic Eurovision dance party. These have strengthened our profile while allowing us to remain on a sound financial footing. Most importantly, she has been very appreciated as a warm and compassionate leader. Gabriella will be missed,” commented SwedCham Chairman Kristian Odebjer.
Gabriella Augustsson said: “I have truly cherished my time as the General Manager of the Swedish Chamber of Commerce. It has been a privilege to work with such a professional group of engaged directors and members. I am fortunate to count many of them as friends, and I will deeply miss both the work and the vibrant Swedish community in Hong Kong.
For nearly 38 years SwedCham has been a cornerstone of the Swedish business network in Hong Kong. Playing a vital role in fostering connections, advocating for clear regulations, promoting sustainable policies, and embracing innovation, and I am sure it will continue to do so for many years to come.”
